The UK Network Rail runs the railway network here in the UK. Connecting all major train lines to the city of London and beyond.
It’s Real Estate team had done a great job in delivering ‘agile workplaces‘ in new and refurbished offices around the United Kingdom. But whilst ‘agile working’ was encouraged in the workplace, they felt they needed to do more to evolve Network Rail’s workforce culture to embrace agility at businesses core.
Advanced Workplace Associates (AWA) were invited to work with UK Network Rail and their programme team. Our objective was to assess the current state and situation and then help to further support the internal team in engaging employees across the organisation. The idea was to bring about an evolution in the workplace culture at the Network Rail.
Initially we used our Agile Working Maturity model to establish the current state of the organisation against the factors we know need to be in place for a sustained and successful transition to an agile working culture. That review quantified and clarified the perceptions that our client had.
We went on to work with UK Network Rail and its team to develop a business case for transition, setting out the financial and cultural arguments for change, along with explaining the steps that would be needed to be taken. Subsequent to this, we met with HR Director of the Network Rail, with a view to developing a campaign to bring about transition across the organisation and embed agility into it’s core cultural agenda.
