Karen Plum is an experienced senior workplace consultant responsible for AWA’s research and development activities.

Karen joined AWA in 1998 with a background in human resources. A skilled change manager, she has helped many organisations adopt new ways of working by coordinating and constructing effective workplace strategies. Karen has worked with clients including the Royal Bank of Scotland, Microsoft, Nationwide Building Society, BP, Morgan Stanley, Lloyds Banking Group, Prostate Cancer UK and London & Partners.

Working closely with the Center for Evidence-Based Management (CEBMa), Karen coordinated research on Knowledge Worker Productivity, Cognitive Performance, Managing the Agile Workforce and Managing Mental Workload. She is a keen advocate and practitioner of evidence-based studies and has co-authored guidelines and designed tools to help organisations use research findings.

Karen researches and produces AWA’s podcast, The DNA of Work Podcast, which features discussions with guests from across the globe as they untangle and demystify workplace change.

She is a fellow at CEBMa and is a regular writer and contributor to articles on workplace change, research and evidence-based management. She has also appeared on local and national BBC radio programmes as a guest expert to discuss workplace change.
