How the brain works and why uncertainty is so taxing

In this episode neuroscientist and psychologist Dr Lisa Feldman Barrett discusses how the brain works and how this knowledge can help us to maintain a good cognitive balance.

Dr Barrett talks to host Karen Plum about the brain’s role as a prediction machine – rather than a reactive organ. She explains that the brain’s predictions, based on past experiences, shape how individuals perceive and respond to stimuli.

The conversation also addresses the brain’s metabolic efficiency and the concept of burnout from a neuroscientific perspective.

This episode is part of a special two-part series that will also include advice for leaders of organisations about ways in which they can help their staff adapt to changes in the workplace.
